Toscana, or Tuscany, is arguably the most famous of Italy’s many renowned wine regions. It is home to the globally recognized Chianti and Brunello di Montalcino wines, and nearly three dozen Denominazioni di origine controllata (DOC) and nine Denominazioni di Origine Controllata e Garantita (DOCG) in all.
All Cecchi Winery wines come from Tuscany, and many are identified by their DOC or DOCG. Four of the wines, however, are wines of Toscana, or more precisely, “Toscana IGT.”
While these wines come from familiar growing regions within Tuscany, they use the Indicazione Geografica Tipica designation in order to pursue a different wine than that prescribed by the DOC/DOCG rules.
