Cesare was born on in December 1956 in Poggibonsi, in the province of Siena, Tuscany, and grew up there, completing his school studies. At the University of Siena, he obtained his degree in political science, with his thesis on “The Marketing of Californian Wines.”
Following his graduation, Cesare travelled extensively throughout Europe, undertaking internships and courses, including at Columbia University, giving him the opportunity to live in New York for several months. He then completed his master’s degree in wine marketing at Torino Business School.
Shortly after Cesare began working at the winery, his brother Andrea joined him, so that the whole of the fourth generation became involved in the family business. In 2004 after the loss of their father, the brothers inherited the business.
The consistently proactive participation of Cesare Cecchi in family business activities has facilitated the acquisition of a wealth of experience within the company. Having successfully taken responsibility for both domestic and export sales, Cesare has also been very effective in setting standards and company policies in the commercial and distribution areas.
His education, and his innate tenacity, have also enabled him to lead several business and community organizations.
In Cesare’s younger years, he was president of the Giovani Industriali Senesi and National president of the Giovani Industriali Vinicoli Italiani. During the years that followed, he became president of the Unione Italiana Vini and between 2009 and 2013, was president of Confindustria and is currently vice president of the CCIAA (Siena Chamber of Commerce.)
Cesare and his wife Antonella have two children, Corinna, who is completing a degree in architecture at Florence University, and Riccardo, a recent graduate in viticulture and enology now undertaking the OIV MSc in wine management.
Cesare’s hobbies include hiking, golf, motorcycling and other outdoor activities.
